Michael Sheen has welcomed a baby girl with girlfriend Anna Lundberg, MailOnline can exclusively reveal.

The 50-year-old actor’s father Meyrick, 80, confirmed the 25-year-old Swedish actress had given birth, and said they were ‘thrilled to bits’ about the news.

Speaking about the happy announcement on Friday, Michael’s beaming father gushed: ‘We are thrilled to bits, over the moon.’

Adding that he had seen pictures of the baby, Meyrick said it was ‘great news’, and said he and his wife celebrated the birth by ‘raising a glass.’

This comes after the Good Omens star confirmed he was expecting his first child with Anna in July, just two months after they were initially romantically linked in May following a series of loved-up social media posts.

Revealing the happy news on Twitter, he wrote: ‘Very happy to let everyone know that my partner Anna and I are expecting a little angel of our own. (Just to be clear, we’re having a baby!) #nottheantichrist.’

Michael shares daughter Lily Mo Sheen, 20, with his ex Kate Beckinsale, and he previously said parenting is the ‘most challenging’ job yet he revealed it is a necessary and rewarding role.

He told The Guardian in 2010: ‘I think being a parent is the most challenging thing you do. That’s why we’re here. It’s at the heart of what it is to be a human being.

‘It’s the ultimate experience because it questions everything about who you are. But it’s difficult.

‘My job takes me away from my daughter, Lily a lot, so when I am with her the time is really important.’

The actor was previously linked to Aisling Bea in April 2018 when the pair attended the Olivier Awards in London, but didn’t walk the red carpet together.

They later appeared to confirm their romance by sharing a photograph online of them attending a charity event for refugees in New York.

An onlooker at the event said at the time: ‘They stayed close all evening and Michael leaped to her defence when a reveller smashed a glass near her, making sure she was OK.’

Michael’s ex-girlfriend, American comedian Sarah Silverman, 48, later revealed he had split from Aisling in September 2018.

However, the former flames were then pictured together in December 2018, before she moved on with actor Andrew Garfield, 36, in March 2019 following his split from singer Rita Ora, 28.

Michael dated Sarah for four years until December 2017, with the relationship ending because he wanted to come back to Britain.

The actor had lived in Hollywood for over a decade but returned to the UK when his daughter Lily turned 18 and began attending college at New York University.

He said he and Sarah felt in ‘different ways’ that they both wanted to ‘get more involved’ in the political climate after Brexit and Donald Trump’s election.

‘It led to me wanting to address the issues that I thought led some people to vote the way they did about Brexit, in the area I come from and others like it,’ he said.

‘I felt a responsibility to do something, but it did mean coming back here – which was difficult for us, because we were very important to each other. But we both acknowledge that each of us had to do what we needed to do.’

Sarah also spoke fondly of her ex and former Masters Of Sex co-star in an interview shortly after the split, admitting long-distance was to blame for the parting of ways.
